Chasing Elysium Struggles

I’ve been trying to ramp up development of Chasing Elysium recently as it’s been nearly a year since I started actually working on it and… I’m still at the start. Which sucks. It feels awful. To be fair to myself, I am working on it while also working a full time physically active job and maintaining my Let’s Play channel and leading my raid group and trying to actually have any amount of free time at all beyond that. I’m juggling a lot. I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of time I put into the Let’s Play channel in particular which has helped, but…

Well. I need a better job than the one I have. A job that leaves you about ready to fall asleep the moment you get home doesn’t really help with the whole “having free time to work on hobbies and projects” thing. My job also pays… very poorly. My game is also admittedly perhaps more than a little too ambitious for one person.

I would absolutely love to work with other people on it. I would feel awful if I could not pay them for helping. But then again maybe there are people out there who are looking for a hobby project to work on? Who knows. Maybe I’ll put out some sort of recruiting notice. I know that the odds of finding anyone who would want to work on it as a hobby is practically zero, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying.

For now, the job hunt is going to take up a lot of time. So Chasing Elysium is going to be on a much slower development pace for a bit. Odds are good that I’m going to be focused primarily on writing the story ahead so I have a better idea of where it’s going. Then when I am able to dedicate a bit more time to it and/or have people willing and able to help, we’ll have a more concrete roadmap.

I’ll probably put out some sort of recruitment post in the near future. If I can get a better paying job I will look into hiring people. I’m mainly looking for a pixel artist. It’s a skill I’m willing to learn… I simply don’t have the time.
