Games I've Played - Case of the Golden Idol - Part 2

I wrote a while back about having played Case of the Golden Idol, a delightful indie puzzle game inspired heavily by Return of the Obra Dinn. I enjoyed it greatly, but at the time I hadn't done the DLC story.

As of about a week ago, I finished the DLC story! Very good, a reasonably difficult prologue to what happens in the rest of the game. I don't really have too much to say that I didn't already say in the previous blog post about the game. It's the same game, same puzzle formula, same very well written mysteries. My partner was with me the whole time to help with disability related issues (largely color blindness, face blindness, and memory issues relating to how many details you need to keep track of).

I do think the puzzles in the DLC story were quite a bit deeper in some surprising ways. There was much more tangential thinking and reasoning needed, but all of which was well justified and prompted by the game without it being too obvious. One particular puzzle that comes to mind involves the moon. The game ended up teaching me a trick about navigation that I've started using in real life for fun.

I really don't want to spoil what happens. There's a few moments where I got a piece of information that made my brain explode, almost to the point of "I need to revisit parts of the game with this new information". If you're a fan of detective style puzzle games, please give it a try!

At some point soon I am going to play the sequel game - Rise of the Golden Idol. Once I've done so, I'll be sure to write up my thoughts, ideally as spoiler free as possible.

Also! Next year I intend to finally play through all of the Kingdom Hearts games. I've beaten KH1, KH2, and BBS, and I've played small portions of DDD and KH3. I have the full series on PS4 so I'm just gonna dedicate next year to finally properly playing through all of the games.
